PRIME ELECTION TIME
The «POLITICAL SCENE» is presently quite active. The provincial elections just ended in Quebec while France is in the middle of a fierce presidential campaign. In both places, the show is high in colours, while actors do their best to convince spectators to give them a vote of confidence.
Since lies and deceit reign as masters in this world of political illusion, anything goes when you want votes: attacks, counter-attacks, statistics, polls, surprise documents, election pledges, and so on. Such combative fierceness is to be expected in something we rightfully call the «political arena». Nothing has changed since Nero, a Roman emperor from 54 to 68 AD, recommended as population soothers to «Give them bread and games».
The media, which are owned by financiers, play a crucial role in this not-so-refined theatrical play. Reporters follow the moves from all main opponents, offer comments on strategies, report «fights», hold scores, control debates, stimulate emotions amongst spectators and faithfully repeat all of the candidates’ lies. With much conviction, they remind people that voting is a democratic right and an important duty to be fulfilled by each good citizen. One of them actually offered the only TRUE comment to my knowledge during the recent Quebec campaign. During a televised political face-off, this media man suddenly said out loud: «Anyways, the biggest liar will win!» Sad but realistic!
There are more than sad notes in a election campaign. We had a good laugh when we heard the leaving Quebec Prime Minister claim that his government was responsible for a substantial increase in births, with 82 000 new babies in 2006, a 6% increase from previous years. We have not seen such numbers since 1909! He was proudly claiming that this was proof of « A VOTE OF CONFIDENCE FOR THE FUTURE». Really?
Obviously, this particular leader does not remember his Biology 101 course. It is only when a species is facing a threat to its very survival that the birthrate increases substantially. Did he never ask himself why poor people always have the biggest families? In some countries, children are abandoned on roads or sold to richer folks because parents cannot feed them. But they keep making new ones every year! This fundamental law applies to plants, animals and humans alike. Actually, this 6% increase was not only sounding the alarm for Quebec, but for the whole human race. When «richer» industrialized countries see their own birthrate increase, it means that their population is scared enough of the future to drastically change its priorities: making lots of babies and hoping that some will survive the tough times ahead!
Another series of numbers drew my attention during election time. The percentage of voters had not been that high for decades. In Quebec, 70% of voters showed up. In France, 85% went for the first ballot. «DEMOCRACY IS DOING WELL» claimed the media. Really?
Somehow, I see things differently. To me, the population feels extremely anxious and nervous. Things look bad on all sides – war, weather, disease, money, control – with no obvious solution ahead. Could it be that people want to vote because they feel that the soup is getting too hot and they are scared of being abused? By voting, they might want to make sure that the «lesser evil» will get elected! What else can they really do?
LET’S LISTEN TO PERSONOCRATIA
«They can do nothing else with politics. That is what democracy is all about! Officially, it means that people (demos) control the power (cratia). In fact, what is allows is simply the power to put an X next to a name already chosen in advance, once every 4 to 7 years. It is truly the biggest lie of modern times: the shepherd persuades its sheep that they have the power… and the sheep believe it!
Really, we always were and are now still in the same political system: a fishbowl with big fish eating small fish. The name of the bowl varies: dictatorship, monarchy, aristocracy, oligarchy, technocracy, and finally, democracy. Meanwhile, big fish continue eating small fish. Nothing new on the planet!
However, the water in getting thin in the fishbowl and its tenants are starting to choke. They feel anxious about the days ahead. They are imprisoned in their bowl and their bleak future is called the New World Order, a global dictatorship. Not to worry… it will be a «democratic» dictatorship, of course!
The fish are getting apprehensive and many decide to swim towards the election poles. They’ll choose anyone, as long as they are not the same ones who lied to them during the last election. They want new blood, new promises. The more scared they are, the faster they vote. Left, right, centre… there are candidates for all tastes and beliefs. It keeps the fish busy while financiers, who also own the media, make sure that one of their political puppets will surely get elected. Will the winner change anything? NO, since the Law of the Fishbowl is static: Big-Fish-Eat-Little-Fish. UNLESS…
I REMEMBER WHO I AM I wake up from the deceitful and illusory coma into which I have been escaping for millennia. I become conscious that I am not a fish and there is no fishbowl. Let’s STOP right here and now!
In reality, I am a sovereign person, an unlimited creatrix. I simply jump out of the fishbowl! I will not vote anymore. I refuse to elect a shepherd whose only interest is to clip my wool and sell it away while all I get is a bit of stale hay. I remember that I AM the supreme authority. From now on, I behave as a divine being and obey the only true authority: my soul!»
