L'ÉPANDANGE DES APPÂTS VACCINAUX

Le largage d'appâts vaccinaux a été effectué les 24 et 25 août 2001 dans les régions administratives de l'Estrie et de la Montérégie. C'était le troisième épandages d'appâts vaccinaux contre la rage du raton laveur, dans ces régions.

Le premier épandage a eu lieu en septembre 1999. Le second largage a été effectué en septembre 2000. Le troisième épandange vient d'être effectué par mesure préventive.

Parce que, depuis quelques années, une épidémie de rage de ratons laveurs progresse aux États-Unis, particulièrement dans les états du nord-est. Et que le Québec, par prévention, participe depuis 1997 à l'instauration de barrières immunologiques du côté américain.

Le Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation du Québec nous rassure :
"... Ils (les appâts) ne représentent aucun risque pour la santé des humains, des animaux domestiques ou de la faune... (une phrase plus loin) ...Cependant, si une personne venait en contact avec un appât, il faudrait contacter INFO-SANTÉ de son CLSC ou la Direction de la santé publique de la Montérégie."
